Three simple steps for measuring your blackout blinds

Step 1: Measure the depth of the window recess
Before measuring the width and height of your window, first check the depth of the window recess. This ensures there is enough space for the panel installation.
🔹 Minimum required depth: 3.3 cm for a secure installation.
🔹 How to measure correctly: Measure from the front edge of the window recess (the point farthest from the window) to the flattest part inside the recess.

Pay attention to possible obstacles
Common obstacles in the window recess include:
🔹 Window handles
🔹 Latches and locks
🔹 Security locks
🔹 Cranks or turning mechanisms

Measuring with obstacles
Even if your window recess is deep enough, obstacles can prevent the blinds from closing properly. To ensure a perfect fit, follow these steps:
1️⃣ Measure the recess depth → Measure from the front edge of the window recess to the window itself.
2️⃣ Measure the obstacle depth → Measure from the window surface to the front of the obstacle (e.g., a handle).
3️⃣ Calculate the available space → Subtract the obstacle depth from the recess depth.
🔹 Important: You need at least 3.3 cm of clear space in the window recess for a secure installation of BlackBlinds.

Step 2: Measure the width
Since windows are often not perfectly straight, measure the width in three different places to account for any irregularities:
📏 Top of the window recess
📏 Middle of the window recess
📏 Bottom of the window recess
Write down the smallest measurement to ensure your BlackBlind fits perfectly, even at the narrowest point.

Step 3: Measure the height
Now, measure the height of your window recess by taking three measurements:
📏 Left side of the recess
📏 Middle of the recess
📏 Right side of the recess
Write down the smallest measurement to ensure your BlackBlind fits perfectly.

Avoid common measurement mistakes
To ensure the most accurate measurements, avoid these common mistakes:
❌ Measuring at an angle – Always keep the tape measure straight and level.
❌ Bending the tape measure – Make sure it stays tight and straight.
❌ Rounding incorrectly – If needed, round to the nearest millimeter (or tenth of a centimeter).
Final tips for accurate measurements
✅ Measure precisely – Use exact measurements and round to the nearest millimeter (or tenth of a centimeter) if needed. This ensures your BlackBlind fits perfectly.
✅ No need to make your own deductions – Provide the exact width and height, and we’ll handle all necessary adjustments during production.
✅ Measure at the front of the window recess – This is where the panel will be installed, so an accurate measurement here is especially important.
